apprenticeships hour of power

BECOME THE HUNTED WITH THE APPRENTICESHIPS HOUR OF POWER

Apprenticeships and traineeships are full of opportunities and can kick off infinite career paths, that are well worth exploring.

Why have an Hour of Power for would-be apprentices and trainees?

  • There’s plenty of career help out there for executives, but little for those who need it most!

  • Completion rates for traineeships and apprenticeships remain low, despite free information.

  • There are more than 600 apprenticeships (including traineeships) to choose from. Think glaziers, school assistants, jewelers, farriers, stone-masons, boat-builders, designers, OPTIONS!

  • Few young people are empowered to make career decisions. They can learn quickly how to seize opportunities with awareness of their own qualities and consideration of long-term goals.

  • With a little coaching, young people can learn skills to practice for job interviews, right across their careers.

  • Learning to self-protect against unfair behaviours at work, can save months of heartache and thousands of dollars during an apprenticeship and across a career.

  • A trade can reduce the likelihood of poor employment outcomes and resulting conditions like poverty and poor health.

  • Individuals succeed when they experience validation of their own ideas. Courses rarely offer one-on-one engagement. Recruiters don’t have time to give feedback.

  • Apprenticeships and traineeships are a minefield of jargon. And, there are lots of stakeholders invovled to recruit, register, mentor and manage young people in these roles.

So, what happens in the Apprenticeship Hour of Power?

My ONE HOUR OF POWER for apprentices is fast and furious. That’s why I follow up with information 100% tailored to the individual. Participants leave with some (optional) homework but I’ll be doing some as well, again 100% specifically for the participant.

Here’s how it works:

Would-be apprentices / trainees arrive in person or online, dressed and prepared for a job interview (for their preferred trade, if they have one). They should bring their resume.

We cover some or all of these 5 essentials for successful job search and career planning, depending on participant requirements.

1)   We’ll review strengths, personality and preferred working environments. I’ll point out where would-be apprentices / trainees need to do more research and how.

2)   We’ll discuss personal presentation – not just appearance, but demeanor and how the participant expresses themselves.

3 ) We’ll review their resume – I’ll give feedback, noting possible amendments. I won’t be typing. This doesn’t help listening or understanding.

4)  I’ll provide tips on how and where they can find apprenticeships or traineeships, (or other work / study), using usual methods and contacts, but also those less obvious

5)  We’ll consider the labour market.  Where are the skill shortages now and into the future? Are participants competitive with the skills employers need or do they need to top up on skills or experience?

Why does the Apprenticeship Hour of Power work?

There’s so much to do, in so little time! BUT, because the HOUR OF POWER is one-on-one, we can get through a lot and the follow up review information is gold. It’s 100% about the participant and their current and future selves.

A parent / guardian or support person will, preferably, attend after an initial half hour or so. This allows a different perspective and a second pair of ears. It enables us all to be on the same page with tasks for follow up and helps to keep participants ‘on track’. (Note that I hold a current Working With Children Check).

This is value-for-money, honest feedback and learning that recruiters, apprenticeship centres and schools don’t teach. It’s delivered in sync with each participant’s needs and can be customised as required. I believe in this product, fully. So much, there is a money-back-guarantee that participants will learn new information they can apply straight away to how and where they are job searching.

Call me or enquire via the enquiry page. I talk to participants / parents before we meet in person. This ensures the best value-for-money from the session. Longer sessions are available which include the use of tools to review individual personality types and career values too. Of course we can discuss resume preparation etc if assistance with these is also needed.
